← Compass: Find Way Back

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Compass: Find Way Back mobile application (“the app”, “we”) handles your information. The app is designed to be privacy-first: your saved places, photos and notes stay on your device.

1. Who is responsible

The app is provided by Nadzeya Yashchuk, a sole proprietor based in Wals-Siezenheim, Austria, acting as data controller. Contact: contact@nadzeyayashchuk.com. See the Impressum for full details.

2. Data stored on your device

The app stores locally on your phone, without sending it to us:

There is no account and no registration. This data is not transmitted to our servers and is deleted when you delete the app (unless you back it up yourself via your device/OS backup).

3. Location data

The app uses your device’s GPS and compass sensors to show your heading, coordinates and altitude, to save a place and to compute the direction and distance back to it. Location is processed on the device only and only while the app is open; the app does not track your location in the background. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings — the compass keeps working, but saving and finding places will not.

4. Camera and photos (Compass Pro)

If you attach a photo to a saved place, the app asks for camera or photo-library access. The photo is copied into the app’s private storage on your device and is never uploaded. Deleting the place deletes the photo.

5. Purchases

Compass Pro is a one-time purchase processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed for us through RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase infrastructure). We do not receive or store your payment details. To manage entitlements, the store and RevenueCat process a pseudonymous app-user identifier and purchase/receipt information. See the privacy policies of Apple, Google and RevenueCat.

6. Advertising (free version)

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve and measure ads, Google may process your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, coarse location derived from it, and app usage signals. Full-screen ads are never shown while you are navigating to a saved place.

See how Google uses data in ads.

7. Analytics and crash reporting

The app may use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the app is used and to detect and fix crashes. Firebase collects anonymous usage and diagnostic data such as app interactions, device type, OS and app version, and crash logs. This data is aggregated, does not identify you personally, and does not include your saved places, notes or photos. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

On this website (mushtrail.com) we use Google Analytics 4 only after you accept cookies in the banner; you can decline or change your choice anytime via the “Cookies” link in the footer.

8. Children’s privacy

The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your rights (GDPR)

Because your data lives on your device, you can view or erase it directly in the app or by deleting the app. For any personal data we may process (for example a support email you send us), if you are in the EU/EEA you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and you may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).

10. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a revised date.
