Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the MushTrail mobile application (“MushTrail”, “the app”, “we”) handles your information. MushTrail is designed to be privacy-first: your trips, tracks, and mushroom spots stay on your device.

1. Who is responsible

The app is provided by Nadzeya Yashchuk, a sole proprietor based in Wals-Siezenheim, Austria, acting as data controller. Contact: contact@nadzeyayashchuk.com. See the Impressum for full details.

2. Data stored on your device

MushTrail records and stores locally on your phone, without sending it to us:

There is no account and no registration. This data is not transmitted to our servers and is deleted when you delete the app (unless you back it up yourself via your device/OS backup).

3. Location data

MushTrail uses your device’s GPS to record your track and compute the direction and distance back to your entry point. Location is processed on the device to provide the core navigation feature. To keep recording while the screen is off or the app is in the background, the app requests “Always” location permission. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings; core navigation will not work without it.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

The optional MushTrail Premium subscription is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and managed for us through RevenueCat, Inc. (our subscription infrastructure provider). We do not receive or store your payment card details. To manage entitlements, the store and RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous app-user identifier and purchase/receipt information. See the privacy policies of Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.

5. Map tiles

When you download an offline map area, map tiles are fetched from our map-tile provider over the internet. Your IP address is visible to that provider as part of a normal network request. Once downloaded, maps work fully offline. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.

6. Analytics and crash reporting

The mobile app uses Google Firebase (Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics), a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how the app is used and to detect and fix crashes. Firebase collects anonymous usage and diagnostic data, such as app interactions, device type, operating system version, app version, and crash logs. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally, and it does not include your trips, tracks, or mushroom spots, which stay on your device. Data processed by Firebase is handled in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy; for more on how Firebase uses data, see firebase.google.com/support/privacy. The app does not use advertising and does not build advertising profiles.

On this website (mushtrail.com) we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate, anonymised traffic and improve the site. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the cookie banner (Google Consent Mode v2, with IP anonymisation). You can decline — the site works without cookies — or change your choice anytime via the “Cookies” link in the footer. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

7. Children’s privacy

MushTrail is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Because your data lives on your device, you can view or erase most of it directly in the app or by deleting the app. For any personal data we may process (e.g. a support email you send us), if you are in the EU/EEA you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and you may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).

9. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a revised date.
